Living Easton’s Time Sign Plaque. (Millpond School)

Find the plaque fixed on Millpond School, telling you about the area’s historic industrial past and in particular, the Baptist Mills Brassworks, founded by Quaker, Abraham Darby I in 1702. The plaque depicts a scene at the brass works in the 1730s.

Powered by water from the River Frome, Baptist Mills was to become one of Bristol’s largest industrial sites employing Dutch brass workers to make hollow-ware brass pots and pans, sold for domestic use and for export to British colonies overseas.
